Amazing Finals Day at Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships London 2011
The crowd was at maximum volume, the venue was stunning, and the play was of the very highest standard throughout. Finals day at the Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships London 2011 was a spectacle that will live long in the memory of everyone who was there.
Unseeded Yonex pairing Chris Adcock (Voltric 80) and Imogen Bankier (ArcSaber 9FL) gave the home crowd a reason to cheer as they secured Great Britain’s first world championship medal since 2006 by making the final of the mixed doubles.
Imogen told the crowd of reporters, “Today the atmosphere was electric. We hope to go one better next year. It’s a silver medal gained and a stepping stone [to London 2012].”
In the match of the day, Lee Chong Wei (Voltric 80) and Lin Dan brought the house down in the final of the men’s singles with one of the finest matches in recent history. The result was always in the balance until Lin finally took the deciding set 23-21. Absolutely epic!

Tennis Action in the Meadows!

Edinburgh Leisure Yonex Demo Day in the Meadows.
It was a brilliant day of tennis action, rackets to try and new people to meet.
The Meadows has 16 all weather courts open for play all year round and is right in the very centre of Edinburgh.

Scottish Success At First Edinburgh
Wheelchair Tennis Tournament
Scottish players enjoyed a successful first Edinburgh Wheelchair Tennis Tournament, which was held at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre at the weekend (16th & 17th of April 2011).
Peter Moore (Glasgow) used his 15-year playing experience to beat Keith Thom (Dumfries) 6–1, 6–1 in the A Division final. Keith is a relative newcomer to the sport since losing his leg to cancer only 3 years ago and showed why he will be amongst the favourites to pick up the main trophy in years to come.
Keith got his revenge in the doubles when he teamed up with John Crozier (Newcastle) to beat Peter and Steve Wilson (Durham) 6–4, 6–1 in a hard fought final.
